The answer is patience and spraying alcohol to kill the mold and dry the item a little bit (some fabric does not like alcohol, but it isgreat on shoes) and never store anything wet or even slightly dirty... mold thrives on sweat! We are living in xalapa with our three boys--12, 10, 4. We arrived from N. Carolina in June. Just thought I'd say hello.
